Membership Meeting

Saturday, November 19th
8:15–9:45am


Join fellow members and officers for complementary coffee and pastries at the membership meeting that is designed as an opportunity for members to bring forward issues that impact our association. CSLA needs to hear your thoughts and suggestions. Members will also be able to sign up to volunteer on the committees that keep CSLA producing influential publications such as the Intellectual Freedom Resources and the California Standards and Guidelines for Strong School Libraries.

Tickets will be required for the complimentary coffee and pastries, and pre-registration is necessary. Anyone wishing to be included in the meeting will be welcome; however, food may not be brought into the room.

The Membership Meeting/Coffee & Pastries is sponsored by Bound to Stay Bound Books, DEMCO, Perma-Bound Books, and Scholastic Library Services.

Presentations at this session are the CSLA Honorary Membership Award, the John Blanchard Memorial Scholarship, and the Leadership for Diversity Scholarship.

Candace Fleming, author, and G. Brian Karas, illustrator, are the recipients of the 2005 California Young Reader Medal in the Primary book category for Muncha! Muncha! Muncha!

Candace Fleming has written picture books and books for the middle/junior high reader, and has won a myriad of awards and citations for both. From Muncha! Muncha! Muncha! to Ben Franklin’s Almanac: Being a True Account of the Good Gentleman’s Life, Ms. Fleming has been delighting young and older! The work of G. Brian Karas was described in the New York Times as “... depicting a childlike style that belies the sophistication of the drawings. Exquisite and moving in its subtlety.” Mr. Karas is a prolific and versatile illustrator and writer of many children’s books. MENU:
Roasted Pork Tenderloin: Roasted and sliced pork tenderloin with lavender wine reduction, stacked sweet potatoes au gratin and fresh seasonal vegetables.
Vegetarian: Grilled Vegetable Wellington with ricotta cheese, zucchini, roasted peppers, eggplant, and bread crumbs with a tomato sauce.
Dessert: Chocolate Mousse

Both meals include salad, rolls, butter, and beverage service.
