CSLA Awards and Scholarships Program
Recognizing People and Books
The California School Library Association selects winners of six awards each year. Some awards are given to more than one recipient.
Scholarships, on the other hand, selected by the organization as a whole, by Northern Section to Northern Section members, and by Southern Section to Southern Section members. Some of the awards and scholarships are sponsored by outside organizations.
To apply for an award or scholarship please follow these steps:
- Determine which award/scholarship to which you will apply.
- Fill out the appropriate information as asked.
- Make the required number of copies as asked for each award/scholarship.
- Return all materials to the address indicated on each application form.
DEADLINE FOR ALL STATE-LEVEL AWARDS/SCHOLARSHIPS is May 30th.
All applicants will be notified of the results before the November Annual Conference.

The California Young Reader Medal is awarded annually by CSLA and three other sponsoring organizations, the California Association of Teachers of English, the California Reading Association, and the California Library Association. Students nominate and vote for individual books in five different categories.
