WE NEED YOU AT LIBRARY LEGISLATIVE DAY 2008!

Why
Meeting personally with state legislators is critical to the future of school libraries especially in these tough economic times. Legislators must hear from us face to face about the importance of school libraries to the education of our students. We will reintroduce our database bill and we will introduce new school library staffing legislation in the near future. So we must continue to lobby our legislators.

Legislative Day is a staff development and training event. Seize this opportunity to participate in California's legislative process, to network with colleagues, and to learn strategies for continued advocacy. CSLA's legislative advocate Jeff Frost will provide a briefing on school library issues.

Participation is a two-step process::

First, you can register online at regonline,

or you can download the registration form and send it with a check made payable to CSLA to:

Pre-registration is $25.00, postmarked by April 10, 2008. Please do not send registrations after April 10. Instead, register onsite on LegiDay. Onsite registration is $30.00. If you need further information contact CSLA at 916.447.2684 or csla@pacbell.net.

Second, YOU MUST SIGN UP ONLINE to attend specific appointments with legislators. Go to: Legislative Day in Sacramento webpageat http://www.legiday.net

At the login screen enter:

After you hit enter you will be taken to a new screen. Click on "legiday" to enter the database. Then follow on the on-screen directions. At the website you will find lists of legislators, appointment times, and notes about the meetings. We must tell legislators who will attend their meetings so please use this website to sign up.
